Love Lyrics & Lies by L.M. Carr is NOW LIVE!!!
SNEAK PEEK

I can hear nothing but the sound of our shallow breathing.
With deliberate and slow movements, Mateo caresses his face against mine, touching my skin lightly with his warmth, allowing his lips to slide along my jaw and travel effortlessly to the sensitive spot below my ear.
A flutter rolls in the pit of my stomach, and my hands tighten around his. A delicious tension builds between us, forcing me to clench my core and suppress the need for release.
“Mate—Oh,” I yelp and toss my head back when he sucks my earlobe into his mouth and clamps down gently with his teeth before adding in a swirl of his warm tongue. The simple act leaves me wanton and desperate to rip my clothes off.
When his lips finally meet mine, each touch is soft and sensual. He pulls his hand from my grasp and cradles my head, deepening the kiss which elicits a moan of desire.
I struggle to speak against his lips. The invitation to follow me upstairs to my bedroom is quashed when he flies and pins me against the leather seats. My legs fall wide, welcoming the hard length of his body pressing into mine. My greedy hands roam over the thin cotton T-shirt covering his back, and my fingers yearn to claw at his skin.
His mouth continues to pleasure mine. With each roll of his tongue, Mateo adds a swivel of his hips into my heat. I feel his erection strain against his jeans, begging for release.
Mateo releases a distorted curse, breaking apart the joining of our mouths. Not wanting to forfeit this kiss, I smash my lips against his once again, desire making me desperate.
“Cat,” he sighs heavily and curses again. “We have to stop.” He drops his forehead onto mine. “Not like this.”
I pinch my lips closed, refraining from telling him to shut up.
“I don’t want to fuck you for the first time inside my work truck.”
My head lolls to the side and a smile spreads across my face. I feel my face flame bright red. An eruption of giggles fills the cab.
“What’s so funny?”
“For being so talented with words, you’re not very original.” I pinch my lips and constrict my eyes slightly. “It sounds so primitive…Neanderthal-ish.”
Mateo exhales sharply and shakes his head. “Never in my life have I been shut down because of the word fuck. Most women love to hear it.”
A pang of jealousy riddles my body at the idea of him with other women.
“Lucky for you, I’m not most women.” I waggle my eyebrows playfully.
“Lucky for me is right.” Mateo lowers his lips and kisses me slowly. “What would you prefer? Make love?”
I gauge the reflection in his eyes and see lust looking at me. This—whatever this is— is a temporary issue of lust and desire. It’s about getting what you can’t have. It’s about the chase. It’s about putting my body out of misery.
“Come to think about it…fuck is fine.”
The dark driveway illuminates suddenly when the spotlight attached to the house goes on, and I feel as though I’m sixteen years old again being called in by a watchful guardian.
“Guess you’ve got to get in the house,” he chuckles. “I don’t want your grandmother to get mad at me.” Lifting his body, he moves to sit in the driver’s seat.
“Gram wouldn’t get mad at you. She’d love any man who agrees to date me.”
From my peripheral vision, I see him stiffen subtly.
“Not that we’re dating,” I stammer in correction. “Bad choice of words.”
Sensing my agitation, Mateo reaches for my hand reassuringly. “Not a bad choice of words. I…” he pauses, “just didn’t expect you.”
“Thanks for dinner.” Anxiety and sudden nerves taint my quiet voice.
“Thank you for coming.”
I meet his eyes and smile at the humor reflected in them.
“To dinner,” he adds. “Thank you for the dance and the kiss.”
“Yeah, sure. No problem. Anytime,” I quip, reaching for the door handle to remove myself from the awkward situation.
“Hey.” He reaches for my hand and I turn back. “Let me walk you to the door.”
My lips tighten. An adamant refusal moves my head quickly from side to side. “No, that’s okay. You don’t have to do that.”
Ignoring me, he retorts, “I wasn’t asking for your permission.”
