Meet Trevor, Veronica's blast from the past in a sneak peek of this fabulous Romantic Comedy!

“Do you think everybody in here thinks we’re a couple?” I looked around, worried that someone might. “I mean, it makes sense, right? We’re young and out on the town. I can see people making the connection.”
“Veronica,” he said calmly, “who cares what people think. We’re friends, that’s it. You and I know that. Who gives a shit if anyone else thinks we’re sleeping together or just friends or whatever else they’re imagining.”
He was right, but still, it could easily be misconstrued between us.
“Vern, do you worry that much about being my imaginary girlfriend?” His eyes were playful.
“No, it’s not that, just, I don’t know. What do you think? Have you thought about it?” I was rambling and nervous.
I was totally taking the easy way out by not answering his question. I would be the queen of deflection on this issue. Because in my mind, I was thinking back to this morning and how he was the star in my sexual fantasy that I tapped into to make myself have an orgasm.
Yeah, this was getting weird. And was about to get even weirder.
“Of course I have. I’m a guy, Vern. I’m always thinking about sex.”
“With me?”
He leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table. “Yes.”
Danger! Danger! I repeated in my head.
“And Vern,” he said in a low voice, “it was really hot.”
“Oh my God,” I muttered. I took a sip of the water that had been left on the table.
“You’re blushing,” he noticed with a chuckle. “It’s nothing to be embarrassed over. It’s a fact that any man you meet is going to always think about fucking you.”
“Trevor!” I whisper-shouted.
The waiter came over to leave our salads at the perfect time for me to digest this information. As soon as he walked away, my eyes tracked him while I thought about if what Trevor had said was true.
“Yes, Veronica, the waiter has thought about doing you ten ways to Sunday by now.” He took a forkful of food in his mouth. “And the maître d’ too. I bet the cab driver that drove you here thought the same thing.”
“Nope, my cabbie tonight was a woman.” I held my fork in the air in triumph.
“Like I was saying, I bet the cab driver that drove you here thought the same thing. Basically, any person you come in contact with is going to think about how you are in bed. It’s a point of fact. I’ve thought about it. Maybe at length. Maybe not. Who knows? Either way, it’s not a big deal.”
I was almost speechless at his carefree attitude about this. It wasn’t helping that he happened to pick up his champagne glass and take a sip. This accentuated the Adam’s apple on his throat. It actually was incredibly sexy, and my mind was veering right back to the gutter.
“You’re thinking about sex with me right now, aren’t you?” Trevor’s eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. “Tell me the truth, and I’ll let you off the hook for the rest of the night about this. Scout’s honor.”
It felt like minutes were going by as I warred with myself on whether or not to tell him the truth. Trevor was cool as a cucumber as he waited me out. Finally, I figured, we’re friends, right? Why not be open with my friend about the fact that I am and had thought about him sexually.
“Yes, I am.”
“Aha! I told you. See, it’s only natural. And doesn’t it feel so good to get it out there in the open between us? It’s like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders, right?”
He might as well have stood up and taken a bow, he was so proud of himself for figuring me out. I rolled my eyes.
“Yeah, you’re right.” I lifted my champagne glass. He met me halfway again and clinked mine. The sound of the crystal ringing could still be heard when I decided to knock him down a few pegs. “I do feel a lot less stressed about it, thanks Trevor. But do you know what felt even better?”
“I can only imagine,” he said with a sneaky smile before taking a sip from his champagne flute.
I leaned forward so that only he would be able to hear what I said next. “When I thought about you while I was masturbating earlier today.”
It was so nice to throw him for a loop. Trevor definitely could not have ever predicted I would say that, much less admit to it. Smiling, I lifted my half-full champagne glass and toasted to the air between us. “Happy Birthday to me.”
“Veronica,” he said calmly, “who cares what people think. We’re friends, that’s it. You and I know that. Who gives a shit if anyone else thinks we’re sleeping together or just friends or whatever else they’re imagining.”
